We meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month and they are usually hosted in members’ homes where personal circumstances make this possible. We are a group of people who enjoy reading and the atmosphere is informal. Each month a book is selected from a ‘Master List’ which is usually collated almost once a year from recommendations made by group members, other book groups and other literary sources.
Not all members will enjoy every book selection so it’s accepted that not everyone will always complete every book. It’s as important to discuss why you did not like a book as it is to revel in the books that you enjoyed. Discussions usually include the characterisation, era and content of the book, so even if you don’t manage to read every word, you should have something to contribute to the ensuing discussions.
